How To Create Fake Sun Flare In Your Photos | Lightroom 6 & CC Tutorial

How To Create Fake Sun Flare In Your Photos | Lightroom 6 & CC Tutorial
Explore your creative side in this Lightroom retouching tutorial. In this weeks episode I show you how to take almost any photograph and add your own sun flare into the photo and make it look natural as if mother nature put it there herself.

How To Create Fake Sun Flare In Your Photos - Before & After

About This Photo:

This is a photo that I had taken at Singapore's premier bird park. It is an amazing place to visit and highly recommended for anyone traveling out that way. The exposure used was ISO1250, f/6.3 at 1/125th sec and at 100mm. The camera used was the Canon EOS 70D and the Tamron SP 70-300mm Lens. This lens is soft at f/5.6 and gets its sharpest about f/8. So I didn't want to go no faster then f/6.3 and couldn't go no slower without raising the ISO up any higher, which would have introduced more noise. Then take into account that I was already at 100mm so didn't want to go no slower on the shutter speed as could end up introducing blur since I was shooting hand held.

So when I seen a video by Trey Ratcliff talking about a new HDR program he helped develop with Macphun software. I was very interested and after using it I am excited to tell everyone about it. About This Photo:

This photo was taken for the purposes of this tutorial only. Just honestly needed a photo to do this tutorial with and had none. So I went outside and took one. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 EX DC OS HSM Macro Lens. Exposure settings used was ISO1600, f/5.0, 1/15th second at 61mm (97mm full frame equivalent). No tripod was used which made this very difficult to take at the shutter speed used and took a few shots to get this one that was semi sharp but sharp enough for the tutorial purpose. The strange aperture shown is due to the camera being set in AV mode and fastest aperture available being chosen. Which at 61mm is f/5. ISO1600 was used to get at least 1/15th second shutter speed. If this would have been for sale or a photo for a client I would have used a tripod and ISO100 to get a cleaner and sharper image.

Updated Posting Times

© Exodist Photography
Hello Everyone! I thought I would pass along an update to the YouTube channels posting times. The latest study for my analytics shows that I should be posting 8pm here in the Philippines which is 4am Pacific Time in the USA. So starting today all videos will be posting one hour earlier. I am sure this isn't going to break anyone heart. It also will help with my schedule of posting videos and sharing them to the masses before I start work on further videos through out the week. So hopefully this is a win win for everyone and if we are lucky it may even drive more views to grow the channel.

Cheers, Joe

Creating A Autumn Color Inspired Photo | Lightroom 6 & CC Tutorial
Fall is here, the days are getting cooler and the leaves on the trees are turning golden yellow and red. Unless you live in a tropical area where everything is always green. In this Lightroom tutorial I will show you how to use split toning to create a autumn color inspired photo.

About This Photo:
This photo was taken in Taiwan a few years ago. These trees are actually in a city part not far from Taipei 101.  The gear I used to take this was my Canon EOS 70D and my Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 Contemporary lens. I used a exposure of ISO100, f/6.3, 1/15th sec @37mm. I can not remember if I used a CPL on my lens for this image or not.
