Many people are un aware of what Dodge & Burning is in Photography, fewer realize that it can be done in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop isn't required. In this video tutorial I will step you through learning to basics of the dodge & burn technique and get you started using creative lighting in your photos.

About This Tutorial:

I wanted to teach dodge & burn, however I didn't want to get to in depth using Lightroom's adjustment brush and overwhelm anyone trying to learn this technique. Since Evening Moon Solitude was a simple image that used dodge & burn, I thought this would be a good tutorial to start out with.

The photo used in this tutorial was taken on my Canon 70D with the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens. This is an older, but seriously super sharp lens that can still be found on Amazon. The camera settings used was ISO 250, f/3.5 @ 1/2500 sec. I used these settings to freeze the subject into place as the wind was blowing that day and slower shutter speeds were producing less then sharp images.
