Learn How To Give Your Photos The Cinema "Hollywood" Look In Lightroom 5 | Video Tutorial

Have you been struggling to get that "Hollywood Look" into your photos? Not sure how they are doing it. In this video tutorial I will take you step by step in Adobe Lightroom 5 and show you how to give your images that cinematic appearance you see coming from those big budget Hollywood productions.

About this tutorial:
This has been a tutorial I have been wanting to get out to everyone for a while, however if you have been following my blog you have noticed I have been starting out with less complicated tutorials and slowly working up to more complex ones. The reason is obvious as I don't want to overwhelm anyone new to photography and retouching techniques. While this isn't a hugely over complicated retouch, it however did take me 15mins to explain.. So I really hope no one feel asleep watching this.
This photo was taken in Singapore at a local park at night. While the photo isn't noble prize worthy, it however will work great for this tutorial. This p…

Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Macro Lens | Gear Review

Are you considering purchasing the Sigma 18-250mm DC Macro lens? But are not sure what to expect or if this lens if right for you? In this video I do a complete product review of this versatile multi-purpose lens from Sigma from top to bottom. This video covers everything from sharpness, lens flair and more.

About this product review:

I have had this lens for about a year now. I didn't want to do a gear review without having used and thoroughly testing the lens myself. The Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM Macro lens is actually a super zoom lens. It is not a true macro, but does get fairly close to your subject. This lens was released in 2012 and is still a good performer. How good? You have to watch the review to find out.

How To Enhance Photos Using Dodge And Burn In Lightroom 5 | Video Tutorial

Many people are un aware of what Dodge & Burning is in Photography, fewer realize that it can be done in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop isn't required. In this video tutorial I will step you through learning to basics of the dodge & burn technique and get you started using creative lighting in your photos.

About This Tutorial:

I wanted to teach dodge & burn, however I didn't want to get to in depth using Lightroom's adjustment brush and overwhelm anyone trying to learn this technique. Since Evening Moon Solitude was a simple image that used dodge & burn, I thought this would be a good tutorial to start out with.

The photo used in this tutorial was taken on my Canon 70D with the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens. This is an older, but seriously super sharp lens that can still be found on Amazon. The camera settings used was ISO 250, f/3.5 @ 1/2500 sec. I used these settings to freeze the subject into place as the wind was blowing that day and slower…

How To Make Your Magic Lantern SD Card Bootable On OSX & Linux | Tips & Techniques

Having trouble getting your SD Card to boot up in your Canon DSLR so you can run Magic Lantern? Well if your a Mac OS X or Linux user, you are in luck. In this tutorial I show you how to make that SD Card bootable using the Make Bootable script and have your running Magic Lantern in no time at all.

About this tip:

The Mac Boot software is a pain to get running. It requires Java, which I have installed, but still does not want to run. I figured if I am having a pain getting this to run, others are likely pulling their hair out as well. The Make Bootable script however can be run on both Linux and Mac OS X. I also found it extremely easy to use, but could require someone with command line experience in BASH.  Luckily for everyone here, I do. So I felt this was a great idea for todays Tips & Techniques video. I normally don't try to get to technical in these videos, but this was just to good of information to keep to myself. So I hope everyone enjoys this tech tutorial. I …

Looking to have some fun with some ariel photos? Or are you just wanting to take a creative retouching approach to your photos you took from the top of buildings. In this video tutorial I can show you how to give your photos a miniature effect and fake the depth of field using the diorama illusion.

About this tutorial:

I wanted to do something with some boring photos I had taken on top of the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan. There just really isn't anything interesting about a photo taken during the day. So I decided to play around and give mine a miniature effect in Lightroom. I was super fun and easy, so I thought it would make a great tutorial to share with everyone.

The photo used in this tutorial was taken from one of the top levels of Taipei 101 in Taiwan. The camera settings used were ISO125, f/6.3 @ 1/60sec. Camera used was my trusty 70D with the Sigma 17-70mm Contemporary Lens at 17mm (27mm full frame). How To: Exposure Blending In Photoshop Using Image Layers | Video Tutorial

Are you looking to get more dynamic range in your photos, but do not like HDR photography? In this video tutorial I can show you how to use two images and use layers in Photoshop to blend them together into a image with more dynamic range without the hassle or look of an HDR Photo.

About this tutorial:

First let me say this is as simple as I can get this tutorial. I wanted it to be as simple as possible for someone who has never used layers in Photoshop or much less blended a photo. There was so much more I could have done in this tutorial, but that would have over complicated this for someone new to Photoshop. I will have more tutorials in time that go into layer blending much deeper. In addition, this simple layer blending technique I used here can also be used in other apps like GIMP, Paintshop Pro, Pixelmator and much more. So its not just limited to Photoshop.

This image used in this tutorial is a combination of two separate exposures. First exposure being slightly unde…
